Manchester United announced in the early hours of Monday morning, February 3, that their English forward Marcus Rashford is leaving the club after spending more than a decade at Old Trafford.
Marcus Rashford’s departure comes after a fallout with his Portuguese coach Ruben Amorim, who reportedly criticised Rashford’s training methods, expressing his dissatisfaction.

Manchester United made the announcement on their official website, stating: “Marcus Rashford has joined Aston Villa on loan until the end of the 2024-25 season.”
Rashford has appeared in 23 matches for Manchester United this season, scoring 7 goals. His last match with the Red Devils was in December, when he helped secure a 2-1 victory over Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League.
Rashford’s move to Aston Villa comes just before the winter transfer window closes, hours after Manchester United confirmed the signing of young Danish defender Patrick Djurgu, 20, from Italian club Lecce. Rashford is the second forward to leave the club this window, after Brazilian forward Anthony moved on loan to Real Betis in Spain.
Rashford began his career at Manchester United in July 2014, after impressing in the club’s academy. He rose through the ranks to play for the under-18 team and eventually made his debut for the first team in 2016.
Reports indicate that Aston Villa will cover at least 75% of Rashford’s weekly salary of £350,000, with the possibility of increasing that to 90% depending on performance bonuses. Aston Villa could make the deal permanent in the summer for a fee of £40 million.
Rashford attracted interest from several European clubs during the January transfer window after struggling for form at Manchester United this season. Clubs such as Milan, Barcelona, and Borussia Dortmund were reportedly interested, but his high salary made it difficult for these clubs to proceed with the transfer.
