Brazilian winger Antony said goodbye to Spanish side Real Betis after spending the second half of the season there on loan from man united. He shared an emotional message with the fans, thanking them for everything he experienced in the city and with the team.
Antony now returns to man united, where he still has a contract that runs until summer 2027. He feels focused and ready to carry on with the great form he showed in La Liga over the past few months. He found his rhythm again and delivered strong performances, bringing back the level he once had but had lost during earlier spells with man united.
On Saturday, Antony posted a video on his Instagram account to say goodbye to Real Betis. He said, “Thank you for bringing joy back into football for me. Thank you for reminding me why I loved this game in the first place. My country, my people, and Betis will always stay with me.”
The 25-year-old added, “Today ends one of the best chapters of my life. Before I close this page, I want you to know why Betis will always be close to my heart. Football wasn’t just a dream or a chance to escape a tough life like many say. For me, it meant happiness. Others saw it as a way out, but I saw it as a way forward.”
He also said, “Life took me far from the favelas. I left Brazil and went on to play in the Netherlands and England. I became a father. Life changed a lot. But football stayed. It always gave me peace. Then one day, everything crashed. I stopped scoring. I stopped smiling. Darkness came over me. I started to doubt myself, my skill, and my love for the game. But then football gave me one last gift.”
Antony explained, “When I came to Betis, I had no idea what would happen. But even in my best dreams, I couldn’t imagine what I found here. From the first time I stepped onto the pitch, I felt something special. It felt like home. Like I found a part of myself that I thought was lost. With you, I found my smile again.”
Antony sets new goal at man united

In a recent interview, Antony also spoke about his struggles at man united and why things didn’t go well after his big-money transfer. Fans had high hopes, but he admitted, “I faced a lot of pressure because of the cost of the transfer.” In 2022, he moved from Ajax to man united for €95 million.
During the same interview, Antony shared his plans for the future. He said, “I learn from every experience. My next goal now is to win trophies with man united.” His words clearly show that he wants to prove himself again and play a key role in Ruben Amorim’s team.
