Man City confirmed on Monday that one of their goalkeepers will leave the club when his contract ends on 30 June.
Scott Carson, who is now 39, first joined Man City on loan before signing a permanent deal in the summer of 2021.
Carson made his debut for City in May 2021, helping the team to a win against Newcastle United. It was a rare appearance, but one that showed his experience and professionalism.

In an official statement, Man City said: “Scott Carson will leave Man City at the end of his contract this summer.”
The club added: “Everyone at Man City thanks Scott for all his effort and commitment and wishes him the best in whatever comes next.”
Carson may not have played many matches, but he still played an important role in the dressing room. Over the last six seasons under Pep Guardiola, Carson helped the team off the pitch while the squad lifted 12 trophies. His presence gave confidence to younger players and added depth in training sessions and match preparations.
He stayed ready when needed, and his experience gave valuable support to the coaching staff and goalkeeping group. Although fans didn’t see him often during matches, teammates often spoke about his influence inside the camp.
As Carson prepares to say goodbye, Man City are also getting ready for their next challenge. The team will take part in the Club World Cup, which kicks off next week in the United States.
Man City are part of Group G, where they will face Al Ain from the UAE, Juventus from Italy, and Wydad Casablanca from Morocco. The competition offers another chance for Guardiola’s side to add a global title to their growing collection.
Carson’s exit marks the end of a calm yet important chapter at the club. His journey with City may not have had many minutes on the pitch, but his role behind the scenes helped build the winning spirit that led to multiple successes.
