Portuguese coach Ruben Amorim has provided an update on Marcus Rashford’s availability for the upcoming Liverpool vs. Manchester United match in the 20th round of the English Premier League.

Amorim stated, in comments shared by Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano on the social media platform “X,” that Rashford is unwell and has not been training. He mentioned, “Marcus is sick and won’t be training. I believe he will miss the match.”

Amorim further explained, “The situation remains unchanged. Marcus, like all the other players, needs to be fully committed. I have spoken a lot about him. Ultimately, it’s up to him more than me. He’s our player, and he will be ready when I decide.”

Recent weeks have seen a strong disagreement between Amorim and Rashford, resulting in the English striker missing the last four Premier League matches for Manchester United.

This season, Rashford has made 24 appearances for Manchester United, contributing 10 goals (7 goals and 3 assists), according to data from Transfer Market.

Rashford’s name has been linked to a potential departure from United during the current winter transfer window, with his contract running until June 30, 2028.

The Liverpool vs. Manchester United match will take place this Sunday, January 5, at Anfield Stadium. The game is set to begin at 7:30 pm Mecca and Doha time (6:30 pm Cairo time).

Liverpool are currently at the top of the Premier League standings with 45 points from 18 matches (14 wins, 3 draws, 1 loss), while Manchester United are in 14th place with 22 points from 19 matches (6 wins, 4 draws, 9 losses).
