Barcelona is pushing hard to strengthen its squad during the current winter transfer window after resolving financial restrictions that previously hindered new signings. With the “1-1” financial rule now achieved, the club can officially add players to its roster, whether through permanent deals or loans.

Just hours ago, Barcelona president Joan Laporta received a significant boost with the temporary registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor in the squad until the end of the season. This development has allowed Laporta to shift focus to targeting additional reinforcements.

The Catalan club has turned its attention to the Premier League and is eyeing Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford, who is reportedly considering leaving his team due to being sidelined by manager Ruben Amorim.

Barcelona’s Interest in Rashford

The Catalan newspaper Sport has reported that Joan Laporta and his board have added Rashford to the list of potential signings this winter. Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, is currently evaluating the deal, particularly its financial feasibility, given Rashford’s high salary at Manchester United.

The report explained, “Barcelona has made a strong entry into the race to sign Rashford, who has multiple options to switch clubs during the second half of the season.” The article also mentioned that Rashford had previously hinted at his interest in joining Barcelona, making him an even more attractive target.

Deco, who is currently in Saudi Arabia, is said to be using his time in the Middle East to conduct informal talks with various players, including Rashford. While the deal is complex, the club views it as achievable.

Rashford’s Career and Potential Move

Rashford, now in his 10th season at Manchester United, has made 426 appearances for the club, contributing to 201 goals and assists. He is ranked 13th on United’s all-time scoring list and remains a key figure at Old Trafford. His current contract runs until the summer of 2028, but reports suggest he is eager for a fresh challenge and is open to leaving the club.

Manchester United is reportedly willing to consider offers for Rashford, especially since the player has expressed his desire for a change. However, the main challenge for Barcelona will be the financial aspect of the deal, with Rashford’s market value estimated at €55 million, according to Transfermarkt.
