Media reports say German champions Bayern Munich want to sign Portuguese midfielder Bruno Fernandes, who is the captain of Man United, in the upcoming summer transfer window. Saudi club Al Hilal also want to sign him and are ready to compete with Bayern for the player.
Bayern are making this move after they failed to sign German national team star Florian Wirtz, who helped Bayer Leverkusen win the Bundesliga title last season. Wirtz looks very close to joining Premier League champions Liverpool instead.
Bruno Fernandes between Bayern and Saudi interest
TEAMtalk sources revealed that Bayern Munich admire Bruno Fernandes’ talent and may try to sign him after missing out on Wirtz, who was their first choice to strengthen their midfield.
Bruno, who is 30, is seen as the most important player at Man United this season, even though the team did badly overall. He scored 19 goals and made 19 assists across all competitions.
The source said Bayern are ready to open talks with Man United about a deal for Bruno, who is also a main target for Al Hilal. Both clubs want to strengthen their squads ahead of the 2025 Club World Cup in the United States.
Bruno feels very happy at Old Trafford, even though the team struggled this season. But he will agree to leave if Man United and Portuguese coach Ruben Amorim decide to sell him. Reports say Man United want at least £100 million for their captain.
Man United failed to qualify for the 2025-26 Champions League after losing 1-0 to Tottenham Hotspur in this season’s Europa League final. The club now needs to sell a number of players before they can make big changes to their squad.
