The match will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, at the Etihad Stadium, with Manchester City hoping to secure a win to avoid early elimination from the tournament.

Currently, Manchester City sit in 25th place in the Champions League with 8 points, while Club Brugge are in 20th with 11 points.

During the press conference, Gvardiol shared his thoughts: “I prefer the old Champions League format, but we must adapt.”

He added: “Tomorrow is like a final for us. We need to win to progress. We feel good after our last home game, and the fans’ support will be huge, so we will be ready.”

The Croatian defender also said: “The season is long, with many games ahead. We must focus on each one and try to win.”

He spoke about Club Brugge: “They’re a strong team. I’ve played against them with Leipzig, so I expect a good game.”

Gvardiol enjoys getting forward: “I like playing higher up the field and with the ball. The only downside is that it can be tough to recover defensively when I do.”

He added: “I’m a defender, but if I’m in front of goal, I’ll do everything I can to help the team. Going forward is fun, but getting back to defend can be challenging.”

Reflecting on the match against Paris Saint-Germain, Gvardiol said: “I’m not sure what happened with the quick goals we conceded against PSG. We were pushing for another goal, and when they scored, we were a bit frustrated.”

“We believe we can still achieve a lot this season. We just need to take it game by game. Declines happen in sports, but we are working hard to get back on track,” he concluded.
