Belgian star Kevin De Bruyne is very close to joining Italian club Napoli this summer after many successful years with man city in the Premier League.

De Bruyne has officially left man city after his contract ended and both sides failed to agree on a new deal. Now, he is getting ready to start a new chapter with the Serie A champions, who want to fight for both local and European trophies next season.

When will Kevin De Bruyne join Napoli?

Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri said on his official X account that De Bruyne has already agreed to join Napoli. The trusted reporter added that the Belgian player chose to stay in Europe even though he had offers from clubs like Chicago Fire in the United States and Liverpool in England.

He also mentioned that De Bruyne should do his medical tests in the next few days before the club announces the deal officially next week.

De Bruyne is now preparing to play with Belgium in the World Cup qualifiers against North Macedonia and Wales in June. After that, he will begin training with Napoli for the new season. Fans can’t wait to see him in the Italian league, and many believe he will keep up his top-level performances and give his new team a strong boost.

If the transfer goes through, De Bruyne will become the seventh Belgian player in Napoli’s history, after Bertrand Crasson, who joined in summer 1996. This could open the door for more players to follow, like goalkeeper Olivier Renard, who played just twice, and striker Dries Mertens, who became one of Napoli’s best Belgian signings. Other Belgian players who wore Napoli’s shirt include Cyril Ngonge, Leander Dendoncker, and Romelu Lukaku.

During his time at man city, De Bruyne collected 16 trophies. These include six Premier League titles, five League Cups, two FA Cups, two Community Shields, and one Champions League title.

De Bruyne played 422 matches for man city and directly helped with 285 goals. He scored 108 goals and gave 177 assists, according to stats from Transfermarkt.
