Clubs in the Saudi Roshen League have decided to disregard Manchester City defender Kyle Walker’s plans to leave his club, as revealed by Pep Guardiola during a press conference on Saturday evening.
According to renowned journalist Florian Plettenberg, Saudi clubs are still determined to secure Walker’s services next summer, even though the veteran defender wants to remain in Europe for the next season.
Walker’s current contract with Manchester City runs until June 30, 2026. However, he has informed the club of his intention to leave this winter and explore a new professional challenge outside the English Premier League.
Saudi clubs remain focused on signing Walker
The Saudi Roshen League is not the only party interested in signing Walker. Previous reports have mentioned AC Milan’s interest in the defender, while Bayern Munich has also been linked to the player.
Walker is not the only Premier League star on Saudi clubs’ radar. They are also actively pursuing Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne.
Walker joined Manchester City in 2017 from Tottenham Hotspur in a deal worth €52 million. Over the years, he has become one of Pep Guardiola’s key players due to his incredible speed and physical strength.
Since joining City, Walker has played 319 matches across all competitions, scoring six goals and providing 23 assists. He has also been instrumental in helping the team win six Premier League titles, along with their historic first Champions League trophy.
Saudi League attracts global stars

The Saudi League has increasingly become a popular destination for top international players. This shift began when Al-Nassr signed Cristiano Ronaldo in late December 2022, a move that stunned the football world.
