The highly anticipated match between Liverpool and Manchester United ended in a 2-2 draw on Sunday, January 5, at Anfield in the 20th round of the Premier League.

The game almost faced a delay due to heavy snowfall in Liverpool on Wednesday morning, but the conditions improved, and the match went ahead as scheduled.

The first half had few chances, but Liverpool came close to scoring when Mohamed Salah set up Alexis Mac Allister, only for Manchester United’s goalkeeper, Andre Onana, to block the shot in the 16th minute. United nearly surprised Liverpool just before halftime, but Rasmus Hojlund missed a one-on-one chance with Alisson Becker in the 42nd minute.

In the second half, Manchester United took the lead. Lisandro Martinez scored with a powerful left-foot shot in the 52nd minute after a pass from Bruno Fernandes. Liverpool responded quickly, leveling the score in the 59th minute through Cody Gakpo. In the 70th minute, Mohamed Salah scored from the penalty spot after Matthijs de Ligt handled the ball in the box. This goal marked Salah’s 175th Premier League goal, tying him with Thierry Henry as the seventh-highest scorer in the league’s history.

However, Manchester United refused to give up and equalized in the 80th minute through Amad Diallo.

After the draw, Liverpool remained in first place in the Premier League with 46 points, while Manchester United sat in 13th place with 23 points.

Bruno Fernandes of Manchester United earned the highest rating in the match with a score of 8.4 out of 10, according to the Sofa Score website. Although Fernandes did not score, he provided the assist for United’s first goal by Lisandro Martinez.
