Man City boss Pep Guardiola was reportedly impressed by Juventus goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio during their recent clash earlier this month.
Pep Guardiola is going through one of the toughest periods of his career, as Manchester City has only managed one win in their last 12 games across all competitions. This poor run includes a Champions League loss to Thiago Motta’s team.
In that match, while Dusan Vlahovic and Weston McKennie scored the goals, it was Di Gregorio’s performance in goal that played a key role in the 2-0 result.
The former Monza goalkeeper was outstanding, making several incredible saves. One of his best moments came when he stopped Erling Haaland in a one-on-one situation. Haaland attempted to chip the ball over him, but Di Gregorio stretched out to make a fantastic save.
The Daily Mail, via Calciomercato, reports that Guardiola admired the 27-year-old’s performance so much that he now considers him a strong candidate to strengthen Manchester City’s goalkeeping options.

Guardiola has relied on Ederson for many years, but the Brazilian goalkeeper has been inconsistent this season. As a result, Stefan Ortega has been sharing the role, but some believe he may not be up to the high standards required for the team.
This has led Man City to look for a new goalkeeper, and Di Gregorio is now on their shortlist.
Di Gregorio, who began his career in Inter Milan’s youth system, gained recognition during his four years at Monza. His impressive performance last season earned him the title of Best Goalkeeper in Serie A, prompting Juventus to sign him for around 20 million euros.
The goalkeeper’s contract with Juventus runs until June 2029. Reports suggest that it would take a very tempting offer to convince Juventus to let go of their summer signing.
