On Friday, Manchester City announced its final updated squad for the knockout stages of the Champions League, which included the registration of three new signings, including Egyptian star Omar Marmoush.
Manchester City qualified for the group stage, finishing in 22nd place after a tough campaign. The team now prepares to face Real Madrid in the first knockout round, aiming for a win that will take them to the round of 16 of Europe’s most prestigious tournament.
The European Football Association (UEFA) allows clubs to register three new players for the knockout rounds of the competition. As a result, Manchester City had to exclude some of the players they had signed during the January transfer window to make room for these new additions.
Marmoush, Khusanov, and Nico join Manchester City’s European Squad
Manchester City confirmed the inclusion of Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush, who arrived from Eintracht Frankfurt for 75 million euros. Also added to the squad were Uzbek defender Abdulkadir Khusanov and Spanish midfielder Nico Gonzalez. However, Vitor Reis and Claudio Echeverri were not included in the list.

The squad also includes Spanish midfielder Rodri, despite his cruciate ligament injury since the start of the season. There is hope that he may return to action soon.
The team now has 23 players in the main squad, plus four players in the “B” squad, which features players born after January 1, 2003.
Manchester City’s updated squad is as follows:
Goalkeepers: Ederson, Stefan Ortega, Scott Carson.
Defenders: Manuel Akanji, Nathan Ake, Ruben Dias, John Stones, Abdulkadir Khusanov, Josko Gvardiol.
Midfielders: Nico Gonzalez, Ilkay Gundogan, Jack Grealish, Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Rodri, Mateo Kovacic, Matheus Nunez, James McAtee.
Forwards: Erling Haaland, Phil Foden, Jeremy Doku, Savinho, Omar Marmoush.
List B: Oscar Pope, Max Allen, Rico Lewis, Nico O’Reilly.
Manchester City will host Real Madrid next Tuesday, February 11, for the first leg of the round of 16, with the return leg scheduled for February 19 at the Santiago Bernabeu.
