Some Manchester United players reportedly believe they know who is responsible for leaking team news. The line-up for the Manchester Derby was revealed on social media a day before the game, with notable absences like Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho raising eyebrows.

Reports suggest that Garnacho and Amad Diallo were questioned about the leaks, but head coach Ruben Amorim believes they are innocent. Roberto Garnacho, Alejandro’s brother, also denied being the source. Despite these denials, members of the squad have started their own efforts to uncover the person behind the leaks.

United’s form has taken a hit since their derby victory, with the team losing three straight league games without scoring. Their most recent loss came against Newcastle, where they conceded two early goals in a 2-0 defeat at Old Trafford.

Amorim addressed his decision to bench Rashford and Garnacho during the derby, explaining to Sky Sports: “We evaluate everything – training, performances in games, and their connection with teammates. My selections are based on this, and the players understand.”

Since the derby, Garnacho has made appearances off the bench in United’s last three league matches. However, Rashford did not play against Newcastle, staying on the bench throughout.

United now face a tough challenge against league leaders Liverpool. Under manager Arne Slot, Liverpool has lost just once across all competitions this season. Earlier in the campaign, they defeated United 3-0 at Old Trafford when Erik ten Hag was in charge.

After the Newcastle defeat, Amorim admitted the challenges he faces in turning United’s season around. “It’s really hard right now,” he said. “We started well in games like those against City, Tottenham, and Arsenal, but too many losses have shaken the players’ belief.

“Early goals against us make things even harder. Without enough time to build a solid foundation in training, the team struggles to handle tough moments during games. We lose focus and everything we work on falls apart. It’s a difficult time for everyone.”
