Omar Marmoush receives words of praise and commendation from Guardiola
Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola expressed admiration for his new striker Omar Marmoush following his performance in the recent match against Chelsea in the 23rd round of the Premier League.
Omar Marmoush played for 74 minutes during Manchester City’s 3-1 victory over Chelsea before Guardiola replaced him with Kevin De Bruyne. The Egyptian international received a 7 out of 10 rating from SofaScore, a website specialising in football statistics.
The official Manchester City website shared Guardiola’s thoughts on Omar Marmoush, with the Spanish coach saying: “He is a calm player, has great speed, can shoot, and is clever defensively. I am really pleased with what I have seen so far.”

Guardiola reflected on Marmoush’s performance against Chelsea, saying: “It was not easy for him as Reece James was marking him closely. When James is fully fit, he is strong and quick. Despite this, Marmoush kept running and moving in an impressive way.”
After the match, Guardiola not only praised Marmoush but also criticised some of his teammates. He singled out Ilkay Gundogan, Mateo Kovacic, and Bernardo Silva for struggling to read the Egyptian forward’s movements on the pitch.
The City boss explained that the squad would need time to adapt to Marmoush’s style, as he had only joined during the current winter transfer window from Eintracht Frankfurt.
Marmoush will miss City’s upcoming Champions League match against Club Brugge on Wednesday, 29 January. UEFA rules prevent players signed in the winter transfer window from participating in the first round of the competition. However, Marmoush could feature in the knockout stages if City progress to the next round.
