Manchester United fans are enduring a disappointing season in terms of results, despite the dismissal of Dutch coach Erik ten Hag and his successor Ruud van Nistelrooy. The club has since appointed Portuguese coach Ruben Amorim, formerly of Sporting Lisbon, to lead the team.

The team suffered a crushing 3-0 defeat at home against Bournemouth during the seventeenth round of the English Premier League. Following this loss, Manchester United remains stuck at 22 points, sitting in 13th place in the league table. The team, which has won the most English Premier League titles in history, has now recorded seven defeats in 17 matches.

Shocking discovery at Old Trafford

The “Daily Mail” has reported alarming news, revealing that a major rodent infestation has affected Old Trafford. The report highlighted evidence of mice activity discovered in various areas of the stadium, including corporate suites and a food stall in the reception area.

During a recent visit by hygiene inspectors, droppings were found, leading to the club being rated only two stars out of a possible five for food hygiene—a significant downgrade from the previous four-star rating. Inspectors ordered immediate improvements to address the issue.

Ongoing efforts to control the problem

Club officials are now collaborating with pest control experts and local authorities to tackle the problem. Measures include regular pest control visits to Old Trafford, which occur four to five times a week. The cold winter temperatures reportedly worsen the issue by driving pests to seek shelter, along with the large amounts of debris left behind by the 74,000 fans attending home games.

The Daily Mail also noted that Manchester United has faced similar issues in the past, with rodent problems in the North and South Stands reported as far back as 2015.

Club and council responses

A Manchester United spokesperson emphasized the club’s strong pest control measures, stating: “Manchester United operates a robust pest control regime across Old Trafford. Multiple weekly checks are carried out in all catering areas, and stringent measures are in place to ensure high standards of cleanliness and hygiene wherever food is stored, prepared, and served.”

A Trafford Council spokesperson confirmed the two-star hygiene rating, explaining that it followed a routine inspection. “We are now working closely with Manchester United to ensure compliance and implement the necessary improvements,” the spokesperson added.

The club remains committed to addressing the issue and improving its hygiene rating as soon as possible.
