French striker Kylian Mbappe spoke about his team Real Madrid’s 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid on Saturday in the 23rd round of La Liga.
Mbappe scored Real Madrid’s only goal in the 50th minute, equalising for the home team after they had been trailing in the first half. Atletico’s Julian Alvarez had put his side ahead with a penalty in the 35th minute against Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
The draw has heated up the battle for the top spot in La Liga. Real Madrid now leads with 50 points, just one ahead of Atletico Madrid in second place, while Barcelona sits in third with 45 points, having played one match less.
Barcelona is set to play today, Sunday, against Sevilla at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium. Mbappe and his Real Madrid teammates will keep an eye on Barcelona’s match result while preparing to face Manchester City on Tuesday in the first leg of the knockout round of the Champions League.

After the draw, Mbappe spoke to the French site “Foot Mercato”, saying: “We must keep pushing forward… Another battle is coming soon,” referring to the upcoming European clash with City.
Real Madrid finished 11th in the Champions League group stage and entered the knockout round, where they will face Manchester City. Real Madrid won the Champions League title last season, while Manchester City claimed the trophy the season before. The two teams have regularly met in the knockout stages in recent years.
Tuesday’s match, scheduled to take place at the Etihad stadium in Manchester, will be Mbappe’s first Champions League knockout match with Real Madrid. The second leg will be held at the Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid on Wednesday, February 19.
It’s worth noting that Mbappe joined Real Madrid last summer from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer. So far, he has played 35 matches for Real Madrid, scoring 23 goals.
