Liverpool manager Arne Slot has revealed the reason why his father will not be at the team’s Champions League match against PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday night.
Why is Slot’s father not attending?
Slot confirmed that his father, Arend Slot, will not be in the stands for Liverpool’s final group-stage match, despite living in the Netherlands.
The Liverpool boss has previously said that his father watches every game closely and is one of his biggest critics. He even mentioned that Arend was not impressed with Liverpool’s style of play in their recent Champions League win over Lille.
What did Slot say?
Speaking at a press conference, Slot said: “My father will not be here. He says watching on TV is much better because he can see more details.”
He added: “He lives in Bergentheim, and one thing I do not miss about the Netherlands is the traffic. He would have had to drive for at least two and a half hours, probably even longer. So I think he will just watch the match from his sofa at home.”

Liverpool’s future signings
In an interview with the BBC, Arend spoke about Liverpool’s ambitions: “Liverpool must always compete for the league and the Champions League. I hope I can keep the club at this level.”
Arend Slot continued: “I did not expect us to be leading the league by this margin after 20 matches. It is always great to be on top, but nobody predicted this. I am probably the last person who thought Manchester City would struggle.”
Slot also commented on Liverpool’s transfer plans: “We did not do much in the summer or winter transfer windows because we are happy with the squad. But I know we are working on strengthening the team in the summer. That means we will be ready to fight for every trophy.”
Liverpool and PSV’s position in the Champions League
Liverpool have already secured a place in the Champions League last 16. They only need to avoid defeat against PSV to finish top of their group. Meanwhile, PSV must win to have a chance of reaching the play-off round for the knockout stages.
