Bayern Munich Want Florian Wirtz as They Compete with Man City and Real Madrid for Leverkusen Star

Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen said the club are ready to challenge top European teams to sign Florian Wirtz.

Wirtz Shines for Leverkusen and Germany

Bayern have been linked with the young German midfielder for a while. Florian has impressed at Bayer Leverkusen and for Germany over the last few years. Many see him as one of the best talents the four-time World Cup winners have produced. In the 2024/25 season, the 21-year-old has already scored 15 goals and made 12 assists in 33 games across all competitions.

Bayern Chiefs Discuss Transfer Plans

After Bayern’s 3-0 win over Werder Bremen on Friday, club bosses Herbert Hainer, Jan-Christian Dreesen, and Max Eberl confirmed they are working on signing Wirtz. Bayern’s honorary president, Uli Hoeness, has also said he wants to see Wirtz play for the club. However, Real Madrid and Manchester City are also interested in signing him.

Bayern Officials Speak on Wirtz Move

Speaking to Sky Sports, Bayern president Herbert Hainer said: “You can always dream.” Club CEO Dreesen added: “Uli spoke without giving a time frame. Florian Wirtz is one of the best German players. You know how we do things at Bayern – we want the best players here. Uli is right about that.”

Sporting director Max Eberl also commented: “As far as I know, the player does not have an exit clause. We need to manage our finances and focus on internal transfers first. Then we will see what is possible in the summer.”

If Bayern want to sign Wirtz, they will need to act fast and put together a strong offer. With Manchester City and Real Madrid also interested, the battle for his signature will be tough.
